Simu Liu is hanging up his ten rings (just for a little bit!) and joining the cast of the upcoming movie Hello Stranger, a movie about androids, death, and presumably other things.
According to Deadline, Liu is joining Sam Worthington, Jordana Brewster, Robbie Amell, and Alicia Sanz on the film, which is produced by Myriad Pictures and started production in Toronto earlier this month.

Here’s Deadline’s synopsis of the movie:
In Hello Stranger, Faye (Brewster) attempts to replace her newly deceased husband, Evan with an android simulant (SIM). Although SIM Evan appears like human Evan in everyway, Faye does not feel the same love for SIM Evan as it does for her. SIM Evan tries to win Faye back, while at the same time, on-the-run from a government agent (Worthington) chasing down SIMS who have become “conscious,” and could potentially be a threat to humankind.
Deadline doesn’t say what role Liu will take on in the film. It does look like the main character of Evan became available once Luke Grimes left the project. A quote from Myriad Pictures’ President and CEO Kirk D’Amico suggests that Liu might be taking on Evan: “We are all tremendously excited that Simu Liu has joined the cast of Hello Stranger,” said D’Amico. “We think that Simu will absolutely do a great job with this pivotal role for [director April Mullen] and the production.”
Android Evan is a pivotal role in the film, and Liu has certainly proved he can carry an action movie since playing the titular character in Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (pictured above). This isn’t confirmed, however; Liu may be playing another part.
Hello Stranger is directed by April Mullen and written by Ryan Christopher Churchill. No news yet on when it will make its way to theaters.
